The Difference Between Explosion-proof Lamps And Non-explosion-proof Lamps

Sep 14, 2022

Explosion-proof lamps are a type of lighting lamps with explosion-proof performance, which have the mark of Ex. The sealing performance of explosion-proof lamps, further protection measures in structure, etc., the country has certain requirements for explosion-proof lamps. Non-explosion-proof lamps do not have more than one requirement.

1. The explosion-proof category, grade and temperature group of explosion-proof lamps and lanterns refer to the national standards.

2. According to the explosion-proof type, it is divided into five main types: flameproof type, increased safety type, positive pressure type, non-sparking type and dust explosion-proof type. It can also be composed of other explosion-proof types and the above-mentioned various explosion-proof types. Special type.

3. According to the type of protection against electric shock, it can be divided into categories I, II and III. The protection against electric shock is to prevent the parts of the explosion-proof lamps and lanterns from being charged, causing electric shock to the human body or the contact of conductors with different potentials to generate electric sparks and igniting explosive mixtures.

Class A I - On the basis of basic insulation, the accessible conductive parts that are not live during normal operation are connected to the protective earthing conductor in the fixed line.

Class B II - double insulation or reinforced insulation is used as a safety protection measure, and there is no grounding protection.

Class C III - use a safe voltage with an effective value not greater than 50v, and no voltage higher than this will be generated.

Class D0 - Relying only on basic insulation as a safety precaution.

Most of the explosion-proof lamps and lanterns have the type of protection against electric shock as Class I lamps, and only a few are Class II and Class III lamps. For example: all-plastic explosion-proof lamps, explosion-proof flashlights.

4. Classified according to the degree of protection of the enclosure: in order to prevent dust, solid foreign objects and water from entering the lamp cavity, touching or accumulating on live parts to cause dangers such as flashover, short circuit or damage to electrical insulation, there are various enclosure protection methods. Protects the role of electrical insulation. The enclosure protection level is characterized by the characteristic letter "IP" followed by two numbers. The first number indicates the protection against people, solid foreign objects or dust. Divided into 0-6 grades. Explosion-proof lamps are sealed lamps, and their dust-proof ability is at least grade 4. The second number indicates the protection ability against water, which is divided into grades 0-8.

5. Classification according to the supporting surface material of the lamp design: Indoor explosion-proof lamps may be installed on many surfaces of ordinary combustible materials, such as wooden walls and ceilings. They do not allow the temperature of the installation surface of explosion-proof lamps to exceed safe values.
